Eyebrows - not only do they help the rest of your face in conveying a wide breadth of emotions, but they are quite possibly the best accessory to your most beautiful look.
Brows have gone through many trends, from as far back as Cleopatra darkening her eyebrows with kohl, to the Ancient Greeks who wore false eyebrows and unibrows were desired, to the Byzantine woman who plucked them into thin straight lines and drew a thick line directly under the brow, and the Middle Ages when foreheads were the focus and eyebrows were often non-existent, on into the very thin brows worn by the silent film stars in the 1920s for that pensive look. These days, and since about the 1940s, women are sticking with a more natural looking brow, with the exception of a few years in between when thinner brows were “in”.
Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra, baker Terentius Neo's wife - Pompeii AD 55–79, Empress Theodora - joint ruler of the Byzantine Empire, Queen Elizabeth I - 15th century, Greta Garbo - 1920s, Lauren Bacall 1940s.
If you search on google or pinterest you can find many examples of before and after photos that really show how a stronger, fuller brow can really change your entire look and attract attention to your eyes… you’ll also see this in my video below: YAY or NAY Demo & Review of Maybelline Brow Drama Pro Palette.
These are a few reasons why a well done full brow may be your best beauty accessory:
- Full brows help achieve youthfulness in your look. At a certain age brows (and lashes) can begin to look thinner than they used to, adding to a more aged appearance. Some people tend to have thinner eyebrows even at a younger age which can make them look older than they are. Filling in your brows for a thicker and fuller look will bring back some of that youthful appearance to your face.
- Full brows will give your face a more lifted appearance. Again, as we age, features can begin to look drawn, but with a stronger, fuller brow, it’s almost like an instant eye lift. Also, since all attention will tend to be drawn to your eyes, less focus will be on any problem areas on your lower face, like a less than taught jaw line.
- Full brows will let you wear less makeup. Since you will have a more youthful and lifted appearance to your face, and perfectly framed eyes and face from your amazing brows, you can rely less of makeup and color to achieve those things.
So, after reading all this, if you already haven’t put your full brow routine into practice, or even if you’re looking to try something new, you may be looking for a great eyebrow product. I’ve demoed and reviewed an affordable option in this most recent installment of my YAY or NAY series. Watch the video below to see what I thought of the Maybelline Brow Drama Pro Palette – did I give it a YAY or a NAY?
That’s all for this post! I hope you’ve learned a lot about eyebrows and why they are the must-have accessory for your face right now! If you guys want me to do an eyebrow tutorial,l I can do that; some things have changed over the last few years on how we determine the shape of our eyebrows, so perhaps that would be helpful.
