Hey, Friends! How have you been enjoying my Scented Homemade Christmas Gift Idea series? Well, yes, today is day 4 and I do have another gift idea tutorial for ya! And, yep, it is peppermint scented! It’s Homemade Peppermint Body Butter!
I really love this one and I really liked making it, too! Again, so easy! It’s great to use year round but is perfect for the dry winter month! You can use it to nourish and moisturize rough knees and elbows, hands, legs and it’s great for shaving your legs, too! It’s got some great ingredients in it that will make your skin feel amazing! And, although the peppermint essential oil that’s in it isn’t technically for internal consumption, everything else is edible. Below you’ll find that list of ingredients along with what makes them so great for using in a body butter!
- 3 cups of Scent Free Organic Coconut Oil – I got mine at the grocery store for $5.99 for 454g jar. This oil has a lot of hair and skin benefits including great moisturization and smoothing. It contains vitamin E which is essential in healthy skin growth and repair. This oil has also been quite popularized for its anti-aging properties. And, coconut oil does not become rancid, unlike some other oils, so therefore these benefits work for longer.
- 1/4 cup of Cocoa Butter – I already had a nice bar of this, but you can get this from health food stores. Not sure where else. This ingredient is high it antioxidants which means it fights against harmful free radicals. It is also deeply hydrating and it’s widely known for its use in fighting and diminishing stretch marks and scars and is great for sensitive skin.
- 4 tsps of Vitamin E Oil – I used Vitamin E GelCaps (12) that I squeezed the oil out of (see video) which is pretty much the same idea. I already talked about vitamin E a little above, but there is more to say about it. Vitamin E also fights against free radicals which cause dry skin, fine lines, and wrinkles as well as collagen damage, and therefore is used in many anti-aging products. If you choose to use the GelCaps like I have and you aren’t taking these already, I suggest you do since taking them internally can provide the same benefits from the inside out.
- 30 drop of Pure Peppermint Essential Oil – I got mine from a health food store for $8.99 for a 12ml bottle. I used it in all my Scented Gift Tutorials and still have half a bottle left. I used peppermint because, to me, this is a staple of scent of Christmas. You can use whatever essential oil you prefer the smell of, or even mix a couple that complement one another. Peppermint has a bit of a cooling effect on the skin and a nice relaxing scent. Pure essential oils are best to use over fragrances since they are natural.

Okay, guys, I’m rounding the bend now – tomorrow will be my final post in this series; Idea #5. And that’ll mean that I reached my goal of 5 videos in 5 days… I’ve coined it “The Creative Glow’s Scented Homemade Gift week”! I’m excited! Reaching a personal goal always feels rewarding in itself, but maybe I’ll treat myself! Until tomorrow… ;)
